BUGINESE FARMER’S CEREMONIAL
At
this time, I would like to explain about the process of planting rice,
especially in Soppeng Regency.
First
of all, the farmers soak the rice for three days. After that, the seeds removed
and got drain in a sack. Then they doesn’t do anything to the rice for two
days. Then, the Buginese farmers held a Maddoja
Bine . Maddoja Bine is a traditional culture of the Buginese farmers to
pray to God for the succeed of the next day to plant the rice. In this
ceremony, they prepared variety of Buginese typical foods, such as ; Sokko,
Bananas, Ginger Chicken, Boiled Eggs, etc.
After
Maddoja Bine , the seed brought to the field and then spread in it. A few days later, the seed then grow in to
small rice. After that, the rice then revoked and transferred to the largest
area.
After
a few month, the rice will grow tall and produce seed. At that time, there will
be a ceremony called Mappammula. In
this ceremony, they prepared some special Buginese food such in Maddoja Bine was. After that ceremony,
the rice is ready for the harvest.
They
do it by cut the stem of rice by using sickle then using Machine to separate
the seed with the stem . Then, they put the seed on to the sack and bring it to
the house.
After
arrived at the house, the seed then dried in to the sunshine for several day.
Then the dried seed milled in the rice factory. The last ceremony is Mabbaca Doang Ase Baru. In this
ceremony, there are only several kind of food, Rice, Boiled Eggs and Bananas.
